Happy Days and Barry star, Henry Winkler, graced the Wizard World Comic Con stage to discuss his career and answer audience questions on Saturday, November 9th at the Austin Convention Center.
After walking out without a moderator, he decided to stand on the edge of the stage so, "there would not be a table between us." He discussed how the odds were against him in life; his height, age at the time, his dyslexia, etc, but that his will was so strong, nothing could stop him. He would have, 'eaten through bricks,' to get to be an actor. "If you have something in your mind that you want to do -- we are so prone to outtalk ourselves right out of what we want to do; 'Well, Iâm too old, I'm not sure I have the talentâ¦' You don't know what you can accomplish until you put one foot in front of the other and just try! If I did not try... I would not have gone to Hollywood on my own, I would not have tried fly fishing, I would not have tried writing books for children. I would not have tried photography. I would have said, "you know I can't do any of that because I'm dyslexic and I have a learning problem." He continued after discussing his part in Scrooge, 'You can be scared for the rest of your life, or you can take a step off the cliff and fly. I used to have a mantra: If you will it, it is not a dream. I know now those are not just pretty words and that is the way that this planet, in this universe, works. If your will and your want is so strong, if you don't let it out of your mind, you have every chance of getting to where you want to be." Being a proponent of the Law of Attraction, I found this speech to be incredibly inspiring and was very grateful to have been in that room to hear it.
